Family Guy Knocks Sarah Palin’s Mentally Disabled Son
Sunday’s episode (Extra Large Medium) of Family Guy included Chris going on a date with a girl (Ellen) who has Down Syndrome (she also wore Palin-esque glasses). Sarah Palin’s son, who also suffered from Down Syndrome, is supposedly referenced when Ellen tells Chris “My dad’s an accountant, and my mom’s the former governor of Alaska.”
Palin has been a hot topic for comedians since her controversial bid for the vice presidency but the subject of Down Syndrome is touchy for Palin as her son Trig was born with the chromosomal disorder. She has recently gone on the attack toward White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, as well as fellow Republican Rush Limbaugh, for their use of the word ‘retard’.
